Our Cozy First Kitchen

In our first house, we knew we had our work cut out for us in the kitchen. Although the cabinets were in decent shape, we had a mini fridge, micro dishwasher, and limited counter space to deal with (not to mention some unappealing tile and light selections). So we set out to turn our kitchen into a functional and organized space with a thoughtful “mini” renovation that emphasized storage.

As new homeowners taking baby steps into the world of DIY, we updated the cabinetry with fresh paint and replaced the backsplash with a classic subway tile. It honestly transformed the kitchen and we could have stopped there. However, we still had to address the lack of storage for our growing family. So we brought in the professionals to demo the pony walls, add an additional wall of cabinetry, add the floating shelves to open up the sink area, and to replace the flooring with some beautiful new tile.
